General Hospital Spoilers: Esme’s Adoptive Parents Aren’t Dead — Here’s Who They Might Be

General Hospital spoilers reveals Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) hasn’t shared very much about her life with anyone in Port Charles, and yet few suspect her past could have anything to do with the crimes she has committed and harm she’s done since arriving there. What kind of girlfriend is immediately on board with helping their boyfriend stalk and torture someone?

Why did she take things to such extremes that Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) didn’t even ask for? These are questions that will make more sense in hindsight as the truth about Esme’s upbringing comes out. There is more to the story about her nanny, Maggie Ftizgerald, and Esme just might have been lying when she claimed her adoptive parents were dead.

Esme’s nanny was the only person from her childhood that she seemed to keep in contact with. This would surprise no one to find Esme didn’t manage to hold onto many friends. Half of the puzzle is complete now.

We know Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) and Heather Webber (Alley Mills) are Esme’s birth parents, but who raised this young girl to turn out just as sinister as the both of them? When Ryan and Heather were feuding over their past and the way she did him dirty and left town without a word, Heather seemed to brush it off like it was no big deal at first. However, as Ryan made her aware he already knew they had a child together, she was shocked, noting she had gone to great lengths to keep that from him and make sure he never found her.

While it’s possible that Esme’s parents are going to be two people we’ve never heard of before, they may still have ties to Port Charles that no one really expected. Way back before the sex tape scandal ever happen, Esme was hanging at Kelly’s and pretending to have an interest in getting to know Spencer’s friends. When someone started talking about parents, she noted that her own were dead, having perished somehow not long after they decided to call it quits on their marriage.

The key that everyone glossed over was Esme’s mention that there was a special place in hell for people who break up a family. She seemed very bitter and placed the blame not necessarily on one parent or the other, but an external person who broke up their marriage — implying one of them cheated.

We can see that Esme is rather obsessed with the Cassadine family and taking them down. Coupling up with Spencer was clearly only a means to gain access to his family, but which one of them decimated Esme’s parent’s marriage? Rumors are circulating that the most likely pick is Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma). He has the history to support it, and Esme must have felt like things came full circle for her when she ruined his marriage in the same way. So whose marriage did Nikolas blow up, and was he even aware the woman he became entangled with was married?

General Hospital Spoilers — Who Are Esme’s Parents?

It’s looking like Esme’s adoptive father might be a new character, but the important part of this story lies with who stepped out on their husband with Nikolas. Word on the street is it was Sarah Webber (Sarah Laine)? It would make sense that Elizabeth doesn’t even know her sister got married or adopted children as they have been estranged for years and Sarah doesn’t keep in touch with her parents. Furthermore, Nik and Sarah have a difficult history, and Sarah’s track record wasn’t spotless even when they were young kids falling for each other.

Sarah hasn’t been in Port Charles since 2002, not long before Esme would have been born and given up for adoption. Further, Sarah placed a mysterious call to Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) this past summer after the sex tape scandal. Was she keeping tabs on Esme but too chicken to tell anyone? The more we look at Sarah’s past with Nik, the more this crossover makes sense. Did Nik end up canoodling with Sarah again while he was off pretending to be dead?
